Alpine Dr. Fire: A-shift
Updated On: Feb 05, 2010 (08:54:00)

Two people were left homeless Thursday afternoon after a fire broke out in their midtown home, according to Savannah Fire & Emergency Services.

Savannah firefighters were called to an Alpine Drive home near White Bluff Road and DeRenne Avenue and found smoke pouring from a rooftop. Firefighters snuffed the flames, keeping fire damage to a kitchen and attic area, said Mark Keller, Savannah Fire spokesman.

The rest of the home sustained “a good amount” of smoke and water damage, Keller said.

No one was home at the time. Firefighters believe an electrical short is to blame, he said.
